ABOUT US
Global Vantage is an institution that seeks to spread stories across cultural and physical borders in order to raise awareness of global issues. We are a small group of devoted students who are constantly working to refine and expand the magazine. We are split into two subgroups with different goals. The first focuses on the advertising of the magazine and manages our budget and donations. The second group is tasked with the gathering and editing of articles and creating the magazine we publish. Both groups help gather and maintain connections between partner schools.
We are partnered with Kibera Girls Soccer Academy in Kibera, Kenya; the CETYS University in Tijuana, Mexico; and Harkness Institute in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico who contribute photos and articles to the Global Vantage Magazine. Students are encouraged to reach out to their community and their colleagues to get a wide variety of pieces. We focus on the diversity of our stories and the creation of a magazine that is worth reading.
Global Vantage was partnered with an organization called Global Journal Project. Global Journal Project was a non-profit organization that enabled school communities to share stories and form relationships across international and cultural boundaries by raising awareness of global issues through the perspectives of member communities. Private, public, and international schools collaborated in a student-run business to produce a print and online magazine with content from partner school communities. The profits earned by the Chapters were reinvested in service through community-based educational events and member-selected philanthropic projects.
Working from within the network of schools, GJP sought to shed light on the range of perspectives and experiences of its member communities, raise awareness and understanding of global issues, and encourage discussion concerning these issues. Each GJP Chapter collected articles from any member of the partner-school communities, including students, faculty, and alumni. These articles covered a broad range of topics and promoted open, mutually beneficial, and culturally respectful dialogue.
The once inaugural Chapter of the GJP, the print and online magazine Global Vantage, involves Pacific Ridge School (Carlsbad, CA), Kibera Girls Soccer Academy (Kibera, Kenya), and Canyon Crest Academy (San Diego, CA). Follow us on Instagram to receive updates and announcements.
Unfortunately, the GJP has dissolved but Global Vantage lives on as a non-profit working under Pacific Ridge School.
Anyone who wishes to use materials in Global Vantage, either in print or online, may do so at no cost and with proper citation. All materials can be used for educational purposes, and none may be used for profit not benefitting the three-school collaboration.
We are a small group of dedicated students that currently attend Pacific Ridge School and collaborate with students from our partner schools in order to facilitate the creation of our publication and spearhead fundraising efforts.
